about
On Saturday, 8 February 2025, Monday Studio welcomes you to the grand opening party featuring Norwegian artist Elias Forberg as part of the OFF THE WALL series.
Explore Elias’ raw and emotionally charged works, where intense themes and unconventional materials merge into an honest and confrontational art experience.
A Norwegian Voice of Raw Honesty Elias Forberg (b. 1993) from Norway is an artist who crafts a visual language that delves into the deepest emotions and darkest thoughts. Drawing from his own struggles with mental health challenges, Elias’ art is a brave attempt to transform chaos into control and shame into redemption. He often works with unconventional materials such as tar and burnt wood, lending his pieces a striking sensory quality – as seen in his iconic work Kirkebrann, where the texture and scent of a burned church frame an intensely emotional experience.
Elias began his creative journey as a child with an insatiable urge to create, but it wasn’t until adulthood that he discovered his path in art. From writing diaries to process painful emotions to transforming those feelings into visual expressions, his works have become a way to break free from past shame and find redemption.
Elias became a fixture in the Norwegian art scene with his exhibition Kirkebrann, which he considers a milestone where his themes and aesthetic truly aligned. He describes the exhibition as a defining moment, one where he felt he had struck something unique. Since then, he has continued to explore new directions while always maintaining a connection to the dark universe that Kirkebrann represents.
