The Petra Pan Complex with WeAreArt Studio

Petra Sparrebro is a creative spirit who moves freely between art forms and media. As an artist, stylist, and founder of WEAREART.studio, she has created a space for experimental artistic practices and interdisciplinary expression. WEAREART.studio is both a creative platform and a playground where her work comes to life.

Based in Copenhagen, Petra works with painting, illustration, photography, and text-based art - embracing imperfection and spontaneity as essential elements of her practice. Her pieces reflect an inner world of thoughts and emotions, often raw, impulsive, and unapologetically honest.

For Petra, art is not about polishing or beautifying but about exploring chaos and finding beauty in the unpredictable and sometimes dark...

So Petra - how would you introduce yourself to a complete stranger?

"My name is Petra Sparrebro. I’m a 23-year-old creative being, and I run WEAREART.studio, where I showcase my art and creative processes. I also work as a freelance stylist, using my creativity to build visual identities and universes."

Petra thrives in cross-disciplinary work, constantly shifting her approach depending on the concept she’s immersed in. Right now, she is deeply engaged in mixed media, merging abstract painting, words, illustration, and photography- creating pieces that capture the chaotic thoughts and impressions of a restless mind in a fast-paced world.

How would you describe your artistic style?

"My style is immediate, direct, and deliberately imperfect. I work with impulsive ideas and a 'trial and error' process. My pieces visualize thoughts, experiences, or observations from everyday life. I explore themes like mental health awareness, hope, and chaos - often with a hint of absurdity."

Petra’s artistic journey began in Spain in 2020, where she found peace in the act of creating - something she has been chasing ever since. In 2022, she established WEAREART.studio, quickly turning it into a hub for her artistic explorations.

Why do you see art as essential in today’s world?

"Art is a shared space where emotions, issues, and thoughts can be expressed when words fall short. Creativity and creation are languages in themselves. Art provides a platform for that kind of communication, and it’s crucial to keep those conversations open."

Petra’s work isn’t afraid to explore darkness - not to romanticize it, but to understand its presence and, in doing so, find the light within it. She believes that darkness is an inevitable part of life, something we must embrace to fully appreciate the brighter moments.

What would the title of your autobiography be?

"Petra Pan Complex – I love working with a naïve and immediate approach to creation. I embrace my childlike traits, and with my concept Charmingly Childish, I try to encapsulate nostalgia in toy-like motifs and jewelry. It’s a promise to remain playful, curious, and spontaneous - even in adulthood."

Looking ahead, Petra dreams of expanding WEAREART.studio into a space that hosts creative and cultural events where both she and other emerging artists can exhibit and sell their work. A core part of her vision is to build a community around art, with a portion of the proceeds always supporting mental health research.

If your art could speak, what would it say?

"I hope it would say that hope grows in darkness and that my raw, sometimes gloomy aesthetic is ultimately created out of love and curiosity about understanding negative emotions. I want my work to invite people to talk and wonder about topics we often avoid."

What’s the strangest material you’ve ever worked with?

"I love finding random materials—old beads, buttons, or fabrics from odd little shops around the world. The weirdest thing I’ve ever used was my own blood. I accidentally cut myself on a frame and decided to paint with it just to see what it would do. Turns out, it wasn’t quite my thing—but at least I tried."

Petra Sparrebro insists on playing, experimenting, and challenging the boundaries of what art can be. It’s precisely this uninhibited approach that makes her work powerful, personal, and deeply relevant.
